Some of the candidates for mayor weighed in on the state’s class size mandate as part of NY1’s debate last week.

The mandate was passed by state lawmakers and requires class sizes across all grade levels be reduced by 2028.

It comes as the United Federation of Teachers — a key union representing nearly 200,000 members, including teachers and professionals in the city’s public schools — declined to endorse in this year’s mayoral primary.

Michael Mulgrew, the president of the UFT, whose caucus recently went through its own reelection bid and won with around 54% of the vote, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
