Mike Kallmeyer spoke with Eric Burgess, president of the OHIO EMS Chiefs Association, to talk about the impact of the staffing shortage. Burgess said it hasn't quite reached a point where paramedics aren't able to respond to calls, but in rural Ohio there are often times that there's a significant delay in their response.  He said low funding is contributing to the shortage.

"Our wages are now well, nationwide,” he said. “Our funding is there not there to provide the wages that the EMTs and paramedics deserve to have for the work that they do.”
