GREEN BAY, Wis. — Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provided an injury update on Jordan Love to the media Monday afternoon.
"If Jordan's not cleared, then we will start Malik and Sean will be the backup," he said.
However, LaFleur did not rule out Love for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field.
"Thankfully, we got some relatively good news," LaFleur said. "I know he's doing everything in his power. I know he's spending a lot of time trying to get back as soon as possible. But, certainly we are not going to put him in a position where if he can't protect himself, he'd go out there. If he gets cleared, we will give him every opportunity like we always will."
LaFleur said the Packers do not plan to put Love on injured reserve, which would have meant Love would have been out for at least four weeks with what is reportedly a sprained MCL.
Love sustained the injury late in the Packers' 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil Friday night. He got his leg twisted while trying to escape two Eagles' defenders.
LaFleur also said "at no point in time" did they have discussions about bringing in another quarterback. He refuted reports that the Packers had looked into signing a veteran quarterback like Ryan Tanehill.
