ORLANDO, Fla. — There was a line out the door to enter the 2025 Hurricane Expo, organized by Orange County Emergency Management staff.

What You Need To Know

  • Orange County's 2025 Hurricane Expo was held Saturday morning

  • More than 50 vendors shared information to help residents at the start of hurricane season

  • Emergency Management staff said it is important to prepare early, not when a storm gets announced

  • Hurricane season ends November 30

More than 50 vendors participated in the event, chatting with residents and sharing resources that could help them during hurricane season. It was located inside Evans High School.

“I wanted to come out to see what we have, what Orange County and other companies have to offer us as citizens of Orlando,” said resident Eloisa Tenorio.

Spectrum News meteorologist Amy Sweezey gave a presentation and explained what causes a hurricane and what Central Florida residents can expect this season.

Staff also handed out free supplies for an emergency disaster kit, such as FM radios.

“It is important for us to support our residents and make sure they have all the supplies needed in order to be prepared well ahead of a storm being announced,” said emergency manager Lauraleigh Avery.

Avery stressed the importance of preparing early, having a family plan in place, and building a disaster kit.

“A prepared community is a very strong community, and we want everybody to be strong throughout any disaster,” said Avery.

Tenorio told Spectrum News this isn’t her first hurricane season, but she wanted to learn more early on into the season.

“You can do your best in preparing,” said Tenorio. “But we never know with these hurricanes what they’re going to do.”

Orange County residents searching for more hurricane preparedness information can find it on the county’s online Emergency Safety Guide.
