Commissioner of NYC Department of Business Services Gregg Bishop joins Cheryl to talk about New York City’s commitment to small businesses, and why he believes Small Business Saturday is important. Eight-nine percent of all businesses in the city are small, and around 98 percent are “very small,” with 20 or fewer employees. Bishop says it’s important that they are protected. He talks about the vast number of services offered to people who are starting up a new business, or are already operating one. Many small business owners say it can take years to get up and running because of the city’s bureaucracy. Bishop says, with his department’s help, entrepreneurs can cut down that valuable lost time.
