NORML has been fighting to change marijuana laws across the country for years. Now they’re seeing their work pay off, even, it would appear, in New York State. Governor Andrew Cuomo has steadfastly stood against legalizing marijuana for recreational use, until now. Why the change of heart? Our guests talk about the benefits legalization has brought to the states that have made it legal (money, and lots of it). Yet, even though the move to legalize has strong support from the governor and the now Democratic-controlled legislature, attorney David Holland talks about why there are still some difficult legal issues to be sorted before this can be done.  And, De La Rosa introduces us to The People’s Dispensary, already operating in Oregon and California, and talks about why legalization must be “equitable,” meaning, in part, it must benefit the neighborhoods where dispensaries are built, and big business should not be allowed to control dispensaries.
