State health experts have seen the injuries that can result from setting off fireworks. Emergency Medicine Physician at OhioHealth, Dr. Brad Raetzke says most injuries he sees are burns to the hands and face and sometimes are as severe as third degree burns and blast injuries.  Tracy Mehan is also urging safety over the 4th of July holiday. Mehan is the Manager of Transitional Research with the Center for Injury Research and Policy for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She says anything can go wrong if families are setting off fireworks at home and the safest action is not to do it.
