Don’t be fooled by the idea that NYC H+H hospitals are just city hospitals where they patch people up and send them on their way, simply a safety net for those who can’t afford private health care. City hospitals are among the most dedicated and innovative health institutions in the world. And nowhere is that innovation more obvious than in the field of women’s health care.  Dr. Wilcox will talk about the future of women’s health care, and the programs that are doing everything from making testing more accurate to reducing the appalling statistics that show Black women are eight times more likely to die in childbirth than white women. She’ll also talk about what NYC H+H is doing to get the word out that all women, no matter who they are or whether they can pay, need to make use of these often lifesaving services. These programs all cost, and Assemblywoman Hyndman speak to the role the state legislature (which actually created the City Hospital System) has in making sure women’s health programs are funded, and that women’s health is protected, well into the future.
