Marc Morial again joins Cheryl, this time to talk about education funding. There is no doubt that the New York City public school system is well funded. In fact, per student, the city spends well above the national average per student. But how that money is divided is still a thorny issue. Morial offers a general overview of how he believes school funds should be spent, especially now with the added burdens facing public school administrators, like the fact that there are 114,000 homeless students in the city’s public schools, many living in shelters. He also champions the idea that, while all schools need to be funded, some schools require more money than others just to keep their doors open.
