Borough President Eric Adams remains as our discussion of anti-Semitic hate crimes and the relationship between the African American and Jewish communities continues.  Apart from serving their own congregations and communities, Rev. A.R. Bernard and Rabbi Joseph Potasnik are co-hosts of a podcast, “The Rev and the Rabbi”.  And the apparent deterioration of the relationships between the African American and Jewish communities is a frequent topic of discussion.  Most New Yorkers hear the words “Crown Heights” and think of the deadly riots that took place in 1991 following the death of seven-year old Gavin Cato, and resulting in the death of rabbinical student Yankel Rosenbaum.  Community leaders have worked tirelessly to heal the rift, but it seems old wounds are opening again.  Our guests talk about whether or not that’s true, or if the bad feelings never went away.  And they’ll look at what’s stoking the fire now, from rising housing prices that are pushing both groups from their neighborhoods, to the feeling that the “other” is to blame for all they are losing.
