KENTUCKY — Governor Andy Beshear said Kentucky had a record number of votes cast in this year’s general election plus, near-record turnout in the primary. And he’s already saying that the next step is to turn this year’s voting plan into state law.

Ellen Wiliams has been active in state and national politics since 1980 and served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky from 1999 to 2004.

Williams shares her reaction to the U.S. Senate Race in Kentucky where long-time Senator Mitch McConnel claimed a seventh term after picking up a projected 58% of the vote, compared to the Democratic challenger Amy McGrath.

"It was huge, and she outspent him she had more money than he did I think to the tune of $30 million more, and still was only able to achieve 39% of the vote. And I keep repeating myself but it was a resounding endorsement of his experience of his strong leadership of his steady hand on the wheel. And we really looks like he's going to be able to maintain that majority in the United States Senate, and as he says continue to be the offensive coordinator so fingers crossed that some of these last few states come in, maybe January 5 before the final numbers in the senate are known, but when Susan Collins was declared the winner this week, North Carolina looks like it's gonna tip republican Tom Tillus, and Georgia Purdue is pretty close to that 50% thresholds. So, all good. We're excited. I'm excited, I'm thrilled," says Williams.
