KENTUCKY — "I'm proud of the work that our team conducted with over, 200 years of combined experience between our investigators and our prosecutors. With a fine tooth comb we meticulously looked through and scrutinize the evidence and the facts in this case...Sometimes the criminal justice system is inadequate to respond to a tragedy," says Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron
During the year 2020, Kentucky's Office of the Attorney General reports that it processed hundreds of conflict requests from local prosecutors and acted as special prosecutors in numerous cases, including the investigation and Grand Jury presentation surrounding the death of Ms. Breonna Taylor.
In September 2020, a Kentucky grand jury decided to indict one of the three Louisville Metro Police Department officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor.
The announcement came six months after Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was killed in her home during a botched narcotics raid.
Despite two grand jurors coming forward to say they were never given a chance to decide whether to indict any LMPD officers on homicide charges related to Taylor's death, during this In Focus Kentucky segment, Cameron explains why he has not wavered on the outcome of the investigation.
