Lori Sokol and Marcy Syms come to the fight for equal rights from different places.

Sokol, the Founder and Executive Director of Women’s E-News and author of, “She is Me: How Women Will Save the World," is an entrepreneur and psychologist who has long focused on women’s equality issues.

Marcy Syms followed in her dad’s footsteps when she took over as the CEO of the retail clothing business he founded in 1958. But they both learned that being a woman in business is never easy.

Syms talks about the pay inequities and discrimination she experienced and witnessed in the world of business, and as the head of a large foundation. She then channeled that experience into the fight for the ERA, becoming a Founding Member of the ERA Project at Columbia Law School.

Both women speak to the practical necessity of the ERA in terms of helping women to break through the glass ceiling while earning equal pay for equal work. And Sokol stresses that, by giving women equal rights, you’re not taking away men’s rights.
