KENTUCKY — Kosiar Charities Face It Movement continues to grow in partnership and work.
Since 1923, Kosair Charities has helped children reach their potential while overcoming their obstacles. The organization's mission is to enhance the health and well-being of children by delivering financial support for healthcare, research, education, social services and child advocacy. This is realized in part through Kosair's Gifts & Grants Program.
"We committed a million dollars a year to it, but we've gotten into it and we understand this, this is a multi-million dollar problem to fix it. So contributions from the public are very important to us and, and, in fact, we can't ever be successful, unless we increase our funding on this, so that means we need more donations to do that," explained Keith Inman, president of Kosair Charities.
Also during this In Focus Kentucky segment, Dr. Christina Howard of Kentucky Children's Hospital Division of Pediatric Medicine discusses the upcoming Face It Movement expert virtual panel on child internet safety and ways to prevent child exploitation via the internet. This panel, designed for parents and other caregivers, will provide insight into the ways perpetrators of these crimes target our children through the internet, what kinds of crimes are committed against children in the digital world, tips to monitor technology for safe use, and how to talk with children of all ages about body safety to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation.
The "Keeping Kids Safe in a Digital World" virtual panel is on April 28 @ 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
The panel guests are:
- Erin Roth, deputy criminal chief, assistant United States attorney for the eastern district of Kentucky
- Michael W. Littrell, Ph.D., CCME, EnCe, digital forensic examiner and cyber crime detective with the Kentucky Office of Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations Cyber Crimes Branch
- Sonja Grey, executive director at Exploited Children’s Help Organization (ECHO)
