The Haitian Roundtable works every day to heighten awareness of the Haitian community both on the island and here in the U.S. Chair Rose Pierre Louis joins In Focus to talk about how the assassination of Haitian president Jovonel Moise has added to the instability of Haitians, who still have not recovered from the earthquake that shook the island 11 years ago.

Pierre Louis speaks to the needs of the Haitian people right now:  funds, food and security.

A recent upsurge of gang violence has only further shaken an already shaky country, where people desperately need aid.  But she talks also of the spirit of the diaspora here in New York City and across the country, which has come together to send funds to the island.

More than that, Haitian Americans have for years offered their personal expertise as nurses, doctors, engineers and builders, and how Haitians have long given back to the country of their birth or ancestry.
