Cheryl Wills gets up close and personal with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards. A true son of Queens, Richards talks about what drove him into a life of service: the shooting death of his friend, Darnell Patterson, when he was just 18.
Richards talks about the paths that opened up for him, one good, one bad, and how the loss of his friend led him to the right road. He also speaks to the awesome task of being a dad to a young son and raising him in the borough, and the importance of making his home not only safe, but filled with opportunities for everyone growing up in Queens.
Richards says it’s important now more than ever to have a “Green New Deal” to benefit the environment, but also to create new, sustainable jobs for the borough and the city. He says Queens is now the place to be in New York City.
