To wrap up Black History Month, “In Focus” begins with a one-on-one conversation with hip-hop artist Consequence. He’s from Queens, NY and rose to fame with hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest. He’s also seen in the new Kanye documentary on Netflix.

Consequence talks about the controversy surrounding drill music after 18-year-old Jaquan McKenley was killed in a drive-by shooting in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Consequence’s 11-year-old son Caiden Mills also sits in on the conversation. Consequence discusses their current project surrounding gun violence and how he protects his son from the graphic language and video associated with drill music.

The segment concludes with Consequence sharing his thoughts on Hot 97’s D.J. Drewski’s announcement that he’s no longer playing the music on the station.
