Beatriz Coronel, the executive director of Haven, joins "In Focus" to talk about the nonprofit. She has served Black and brown indigenous women for more than 15 years, working in the mental health field with suicide prevention and intervention.
With added stressors and increased isolation, Coronel discusses the toll the pandemic has had on women of color and how the needs have changed.
She also talks about how Haven is working to increase racial equity through arts, media, culture, community and education.
Coronel discusses the sigma surrounding mental health and emotional well-being and what needs to be done to fix that.
