Maternal health issues impact all new mothers in one way or another. But those impacts happen more often and are statistically more severe in minority communities. 

There has even been legislation on both the state and federal level that solely addresses Black maternal health, and medical professionals in North Carolina see the disparity in maternal health care firsthand.
