State Senator Shelley Mayer joins the program to discuss her fight for a school voter registration program and explains why it’s so important to the next generation of New Yorkers.

Representing the 37th Senate District, which includes portions of Westchester county, Mayer discusses how the pandemic has hit her district.

As a member of the Senate Education Committee, Mayer talks about how kids have been able to go mask-free for nearly a month now and Mayor Eric Adams' recent announcement to drop the mask mandate for kids five and under next month.

She also responds to parents who are still not comfortable with their kids ditching the masks, especially those who are ineligible to be vaccinated, and her fight for fair pay for home care workers.

Mayer says New York State has a chronic EMS shortage and many of these workers have not been acknowledged as essential during this pandemic.

Mayer discusses what needs to be done to ensure New Yorkers are receiving quality care when they call 911. She also talks about why she’s co-sponsoring the 'Stop Russian Aggression Act,' which blocks contracts to any company conducting business in Russia.
