Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson joins “In Focus” to share her thoughts on Mayor Eric Adams’ homeless encampment sweeps, how the plan affects her borough and the outreach that’s needed to get New York’s most vulnerable off the streets and subways.
The Bronx is home to some 19,000 homeless New Yorkers — the highest across the five boroughs, according to the Bronx non-profit University Neighborhood Housing Program.
Gibson also discusses the new affordable housing and safe havens that have opened in the Bronx for unsheltered adults, how these are helping the homelessness crisis and what more need to be done.
