Adam Odsess-Rubin, the founding artistic director of the National Queer Theater, joins “In Focus” with Cheryl Wills to kick off Pride Month and discuss the fourth annual Criminal Queerness Festival. It’s one of more than 300 events featured in Lincoln Center’s "Summer for the City" initiative.

The Criminal Queerness Festival features plays by international LGBTQ+ playwrights from countries that criminalize or censor LGBTQ+ communities. In more than 70 countries worldwide, being LGBTQ+ is criminalized. The festival gives a platform for LGBTQ+ artists and audiences to learn about the continued fight for LGTBQ+ rights.

The festival takes place June 21-24 at Lincoln Center.

Obsess-Rubin also discusses the National Queer Theater and the work that the organization is doing year-round.
