Angel Ramos, the president of the NYPD Chapter of the National Latino Officers Association joins "In Focus" to discuss how the association creates strong bonds between the Latino community and law enforcement agencies.
The association also promotes tolerance and creates an understanding of the Latino culture. Ramos talks about how the association addresses the increased attacks on police officers in New York City and the nationwide gun crisis. So far this year, the NYPD has recovered more than 3,000 illegal guns this year.
The National Latino Officers Association also ensures equal representation in hiring and promotional practices. Ramos explains how its making sure its members work in an environment free of discrimination, hostility and harassment.
