LOUISVILLE, Ky. — During this week's program, we are broadcasting from the 118th Kentucky State Fair in Louisville at the Kentucky Exposition Center, where for 11 days, our state's signature summertime event was on display.

The Kentucky State Fair includes competitions in crafts such as quilt-making, home-brew beers, and home-made pastries, as well as fine arts and agricultural competitions.

There’s also live music and entertainment acts, traditional fair rides and of course, food for days.

During this segment, multimedia journalist Jonathan Gregg stopped by the fair on opening day to bring check out the sights, sounds and smells from the state fair.

The Kentucky state fair is a time where farmers from all over the state can show off their best livestock.

And this industry actually continues to be a male dominated…but, this year's grand champion for livestock showings is a 19-year-old woman from Jessamine County.

Our Diamond Palmer spoke to Morgan Berryman about the big win and her cattle family legacy.

Also during this segment, we highlight a newly renovated, KSP mobile substance abuse trailer that made a stop to the state fair, that teaches children and adults about the dangers of substance abuse.

The KSP mobile substance abuse trailer has been around since the early 1990’s.
