Irene Gandy, who’s on the Board of Directors of the Drama League, and Emilio Sosa, the chair of the American Theatre Wing, join “In Focus” to celebrate NY1‘s 30th anniversary and reflect on the evolution of Broadway and theatre in New York City.
Gandy is a Tony Award winner and is the only Black female press agent member of the Association of Black Female Press Agents and Managers. She shares her thoughts on the inclusivity of the industry and Broadway’s importance in New York City. Gandy is a 2020 Tony Honors Excellence in Theater award.
Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, Sosa discusses his journey to becoming a tony award nominated costume and fashion designer.
Sosa has designed for Diana Ross, Mariah Carey and Gloria Estefan. Sosa also is the first designer of color to design the Radio City Music Hall Spring Spectacular.
