Matthew Fraser, the city’s chief technology officer, explained how Big Apple Connect is a game changer for NYCHA residents. The program includes internet, cable television service, common area Wi-Fi and hot spots.

Buildings that will be in the program include the Mott Haven Houses, Patterson Houses, Stapleton Houses, Polo Grounds Towers and several others across the five boroughs.

New York City is the wealthiest city in the country, yet so many lack access to the internet. Fraser discussed how the program is changing that, when these residents can expect to see their bills adjusted and who is eligible.

The program was initially piloted at eight developments across the five boroughs. Big Apple Connect is planned to span over 200 developments by the end of next year. Fraser talked about the future of the program.
