Serena Chandler, president of the Polo Grounds Towers Tenant Association, and Ciprian Noel, president of the Langston Hughes Tenant Association, joined “In Focus” to discuss the Big Apple Connect.
Chandler talked about the start of the program and the reaction at Polo Grounds from the residents.
About two out of three of households at the Langston Hughes Houses are already enrolled in the program. Noel explained the reaction at the Langston Hughes Houses and whose set to benefit.
The pandemic exposed “the digital divide,” or the division between those who have internet access and those who don’t. Chandler discussed the importance of bridging that gap in public housing and some advantages for families.
The program is funded for at least three years through the summer of 2025.
