David Aviles, the founder of Puerto Rican Flags Up, discusses Hurricane Fiona. The storm devastated Puerto Rico nearly a month ago and Aviles has been working to help.
Fiona brought over 30 inches of rain in less than 24 hours and left the entire island without electricity. At least 25 Puerto Ricans lost their lives. Aviles shared what conditions are currently like over there and if he thinks the federal government is responding better this time compared to Hurricane Maria in 2017.
Maria was a Category 5 hurricane and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in recorded history to affect the island. Fiona made landfall almost exactly five years after Hurricane Maria.
Aviles recently helped host a fundraiser to help the residents of Puerto Rico. He explained how it went and where the money was going.
