KENTUCKY — The month of November was first declared as Military Family Month in 1996. Since then, November has been a time to acknowledge the tremendous sacrifices our military families make.
According to Kentucky’s Department of Veterans Affairs, there are more than 295,000 veterans in our state.
Jeremy Harrell is the founder of Veteran’s Club Inc, which is a non-profit organization that connects active members of military and veterans with support services.
Some of the resources the 501(c)3 organization provides connection, healing, recovery, housing assistance, and vocational training to the veteran and first responder community.
"You know, things are going really well. We're experiencing exponential growth, which is a good problem to have. I'd much rather have to try to keep up than to try to find momentum. But when the demand is rising, the need is still great. And I think sometimes people may think that because we're not in an act of war, that there isn't a need, but in fact, you know, there is a need of many people who go to war, when they come home. The war doesn't leave them, right? So we've worked really hard," explains Harrell.
