Tony award winning performer Melba Moore joined “In Focus” to discuss her five-decade career from on stage to on screen.
The Harlem-born singer explains the inspiration behind her newest album "Imagine."
Moore talked about being awarded the Joseph R. Biden Lifestyle Achievement Award and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her work in improving urban communities.
She is celebrating some major milestones this year, including the 55th anniversary of “Hair.”
Moore was the first African American actress to take over a leading role from a white actress on Broadway. She took over the role of Sheila from Diane Keaton in 1969.
She talked about what it was like and the 50th anniversary of the “Melba Moore and Clifton Davis Hour.”
Moore broke boundaries as the first African American female entertainer to host a network variety television show.
She and Clifton Davis were the first Black couple to co-host a weekly variety series on CBS in 1972.
Moore also talked about her transition from Broadway to television and how she feels to be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
