Queens Councilmember Linda Lee marked Social Work Month and discussed Mayor Eric Adams’ mental health agenda.
She’s the chair of the Committee on Mental Health, Disabilities and Addictions and explained how the city prioritizes the mental well-being of all New Yorkers.
Lee discussed the devastating effects the pandemic had on our children and the shortcomings in the system today.
She also addressed the opioid crisis and the city’s goal to reduce overdose deaths by 15% by 2025. One New Yorker every three hours is lost to a drug-related overdose.
As a social worker, Lee discussed the importance of culturally competent healthcare for our most vulnerable communities.
