John Sanchez, 5 Borough Housing Movement executive director, discussed transforming office spaces into affordable housing units.

He talked about the city’s response to the influx of migrants, and how officials should have planned ahead to convert empty spaces into housing for them.

Sanchez also discussed how the housing crisis is decades in the making.

He explained this decade is almost a third way through and we are on pace to produce less housing than the past two decades.

Sanchez talked about how the city and state needs to work together to life the Floor Area Ratio cap and create office conversions.
