Ana Almanzar, the deputy mayor for strategic initiatives, grew up in the Dominican Republic and moved to Brooklyn when she was 17 years old.
She says she learned English, went to Hostos Community College and started her career by working with nonprofits.
Almanzar discusses what her top initiatives are since Mayor Eric Adams appointed her. She also looks back on watching NY1 Noticias in her home and the impact it has on the Spanish-speaking community.
