“Wonder Mike” and Leland Robinson joined “In Focus” host Cheryl Wills to reflect on their hip-hop careers.
“Wonder Mike” explained the quick fame of the Sugar Hill Gang after they released “Rappers Delight.”
The track was the first hip-hop song to get on the radio.
Robinson also credits his mother, Sylvia Robinson, with producing the Sugar Hill Gang and other now-big names without getting the credit she deserves.
“Wonder Mike” discussed how Sylvia Robinson also paved the way for other women to get on the hip-hop scene in the male-dominated genre.
