KENTUCKY — We continue our coverage on location, from St. Jerome Catholic Church in Graves County, which is in far west Kentucky, where close to 20 Republican and Democratic political candidates and current officeholders gave political speeches at this year’s Fancy Farm Picnic, which is widely considered by many, as Kentucky’s political Super Bowl.
The stage speakers had to shout their remarks over the cheers and jeers from the crowd, which is routine and common practice for this event that dates back to 1880.
The 143rd Annual St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic drew close to 15,000 attendees, one of the highest totals on record, organizers said.
During this ‘In Focus Kentucky’ segment, we’re bringing you some sights and sounds of this year’s political speeches with down ballot candidates running for statewide office and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who made his 28th trip to the picnic, after recent concerns over his health.
