Manhattan Councilmember Erik Bottcher announced legislation which aims to prohibit city agencies from purchasing single use plastic water bottles.

He said it takes 450 years for a water bottle to decompose and they overflow our landfills. Bottcher also talked about the "Our Air, Our Water" Act and its goal to reduce air and water pollution by regulating cruise ships in our ports.

Bottcher also explained how housing policies and developments are connected to the environment and climate change, and why it’s important to preserve open green spaces.
