Harlem City Councilmember Yusef Salaam talked about his role on the City Council's public safety committee, and said he believes it's important to take time to hear from both constituents and law enforcement about their concerns.

Salaam said he tries to foster relationships that he thinks will benefit everyone. He believes Harlem has drastically changed since he was a child and wrongfully convicted for a crime, but still has a lot of work to do to improve safety.

The Councilman also discussed young people and gang violence and claims the city is missing desperately needed resources to help youth.
