Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson discussed how the Bronx has the highest violent crime rate in the city on average. She also commented on the rise in gun violence among young people.
Gibson said the NYPD report on a downtrend of gun violence this year will hopefully continue as a result of various programs she’s helping bring forward.
The borough president highlighted the recent Harmony Day event, saying officials are using community gatherings as ways to maintain peace.
Gibson also talked about the Summer Youth Employment program and said there is great work being done there with young people.
