Yvette Buckner, the New Majority NYC board co-chair, talked about the first women-majority City Council and how the New Majority worked tirelessly to help fundraise and uplift women into political leadership positions.
She also commented on fundraising issues for women and recruitment for women of color in politics.
Buckner said there is a lack of female representation in the U.S. Senate. She said she believes Shirley Chisholm is doing important work and broke barriers for the women in office today.
