KENTUCKY —  Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., delivered his fifth annual State of the Commonwealth address Wednesday, Jan. 8 to members of the General Assembly.

During this week's "In Focus Kentucky" program, we're sharing highlights from Beshear's 43-minute speech. He discussed various topics including several of his administration's accomplishments during his first four-year term, such as record investments in new jobs and economic development to the rollout of Kentucky’s medical cannabis program.

The Republican Party of Kentucky responded to Gov. Beshear's State of the Commonwealth address, saying Beshear "delivered the same tired speech he has been giving for the past five years."

"Kentucky's economic progress began long before Beshear was elected governor," said Andy Westberry, communications director for the Republican Party of Kentucky. "Our success is the direct result of the strong, decisive leadership of President Stivers, Speaker Osborne and the Republican supermajority in the legislature, who have championed fiscally responsible policies that have transformed our state's economy."

Also, during this segment, State Sen. Amanda Mays Bledose, R-Lexington, shared her reactions to the governor’s speech.
