Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson says a maternal mortality health crisis is impacting residents in the Bronx. She says the borough is providing a number of services to reduce the death rate of many Black and Brown mothers.
Gibson also discussed gender-based and domestic violence and says Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark and organizations like Safe Horizons are helping victims.
Gibson says money from the state will go towards economic development, including the Future Forward Bronx initiative, which hopes the curb the borough’s unemployment rate of 6.8% — the highest in the state.
