Bronx state Sen. Nathalia Fernandez says menstrual products often contain PFA’s — widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time — which can harm the reproductive system.

Fernandez says the legislation would force companies to remove those substances from their products.

She also discussed the Voluntary Intoxication Exclusion Bill, which is attempting to amend the current law stating if someone chooses to drink alcohol and happens to get assaulted, they don’t have a legal defense.
