Events honoring the legacy of Dr. King take place all over the Lone Star State. In Central Texas, each year the Austin Area Heritage Council oversees the MLK community celebration. Yvette Crawford-Lee is one of the board members behind this annual multicultural gathering she joins us with details of this year’s festivities.

The 2025 MLK March has been cancelled due to weather. The Community Festival at Huston-Tillotson University at 8th and Chalmers has been postponed to Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11 am – 4 pm.

Dr. King has inspired many Americans to create change – that includes a group of Texans who created DreamCon, the only black-owned anime and gaming convention in the state. Agustin Garfias shares their story.
