This weekend on In Focus, we’re continuing our series profiling the Democratic mayoral candidates around the state.
JoDee Kenney sits down with Albany's Carolyn McLaughlin. She was an Albany County Common Council member and president and currently serves on the Albany County Democratic Committee and is Albany County Legislative district representative.
McLaughlin says for almost 30 years she's been a very good team player up until this point and now she wants to lead this team. She calls public safety, affordable housing and economic development the top issues facing Albany.
She wants the city to be one where older Albanians can retire in place and one where there are opportunities for the city's youth. She wants to provide opportunities to keep people positively engaged and tap into the area's entrepreneurial spirit. McLaughlin calls its people the greatest asset Albany has.
