KENTUCKY — Julie Raque Adams is a Republican member of the Kentucky State Senate and has been representing District 36 (Louisville) since January 2016.
During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Adams discusses why she supports Senate Bills 1 & 2, which dealt with oversight of the use of the Governor's emergency powers.
"I kind of characterize them as transparency bills, which would still allow the Governor to take what he needs to do to take care of the Commonwealth in an emergency situation. But we add this this level of transparency where he's communicating with the General Assembly. We understand who he is contracting with, how he's spending money, what the plan is going forward. And like I said, I think that these are just kind of good government bills, based on a situation that hopefully we will never experience again," explains Sen. Adams.
