KENTUCKY — During this In Focus Kentucky segment, House Minority Floor Leader Joni Jenkins (D, Shively) discusses her reaction to the recent inauguration of 46th President of the United States Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

"It was a great day to watch that inaugural, even though it was different for many reasons. You know, COVID being one and security being the other, but I thought it was a great day. I'm really looking forward to an administration that I think is going to be more inclusive, that less divisive and more civil. Certainly President Biden now has been involved in American politics for a long time, and I think most people would agree, even if they disagree philosophically on some of his politics, that he's a good person, and a person that has deep respect for all Americans and all the folks that he works with, and my goodness, seeing our first female elected to a national office was just amazing. I was beginning to think I would not live to see that happen, so for women and men and little girls and little boys across the nation, I think it was a really, really great day," explained Jenkins.

Kentucky Senate Republican Caucus Chair Julie Raque Adams (R, Louisville) also joined the program to reflect on the start of this year's 2021 Kentucky General Assembly session.

"I got that question from a constituent yesterday and they said, 'how is it,' and I said, 'you know, it's eerily lonely because you're so used to having all that energy, not only in the committee rooms, but also in the chamber and and constituents walking the halls, there's just really none of that.' And so it's a very different feeling for this session. And so it's taken a little while to get used to," said Adams.
