KENTUCKY — In the commonwealth, it’s estimated that around 600,000 people are facing hunger.

There’s data that shows around 4,000 people are experiencing homelessness in the state. That’s why Louisville-based Meineke owner Bryan Brown is working with an Ohio company to provide personal care items and sack lunches to Kentuckians in need.

Bryan joins this In Focus Kentucky segment to discuss why he has decided to barbecue and serve food at local homeless shelters throughout Louisville.

"Yes, actually, about two and a half years ago, we partnered with Fleur’s Dream out of Ohio, and every other month at the Wayside Mission, we set up a grill. Me and some of my team members from Meineke and normally we serve about 300 hamburgers Sunday mornings every other month. So, it's fun, a lot of fun. Meineke corporate encourages us on a local level as well, so they want to partner with people who have the same desire to basically help people. My wife and I are all about charitable causes and giving back. We have been very fortunate and blessed in our business, and we just feel the need to give back whenever we can," explained Brown.
