KENTUCKY — On this week's program, we’re sharing legislative priorities from the perspective of legislative leaders in the Kentucky General Assembly and also community organizations and advocacy groups in our state.
The legislative session officially kicked in early January for part one of the 30-day General Assembly session. During those first four days, close to 200 bills were filed by lawmakers in both the House and Senate chambers.
This week, Kentucky lawmakers are returning to Frankfort for part two, of the legislative session which runs until March 30.
Many of the bills and issues that are debated in the state legislature, are first sparked by conversations with business leaders and community advocates throughout the Commonwealth.
During this In Focus Kentucky, we take a look at pieces of legislation being considered by lawmakers including: criminal justice reform, sports wagering and the banning of ban hair discrimination.
